Seventeen students participating in the 2016 Journalism in July Workshop July 10-16 at University of Texas, El Paso, took their cameras, audio recorders and notebooks to Downtown to get a look at the stories from the heart of our city. The students began their training on the UTEP campus with lectures and demonstrations on traditional newsgathering and new multimedia skills taught by professors and area news professionals. Then they went into field to apply their new skills in professional news reporting followed by video editing and web posting.
