PRINCETON, N.J. — The Dow Jones Newspaper Fund has changed its name to Dow Jones News Fund. The new web address is https://www.newsfund.org.
The new name reflects outreach to news services, websites and digital media in the past few years and a projection that there is more to come as the industry evolves.
“We have expanded our programs well beyond the traditional newspaper industry, so we felt it was time to change our name to ‘News’ from ‘Newspaper’ while still retaining our familiar DJNF acronym and logo,” said Rich Holden, the Fund’s executive director. This change marks the third for the foundation which was organized as The Newspaper Fund in 1958 then changed its name in 1982 to The Dow Jones Newspaper Fund, Inc. Much of this history is chronicled in the book, “COPY! The first 50 years of the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund,” which can be ordered from the website.
The Fund began serving journalism by offering summer teacher training then graduated to a national teacher recognition program, college editing, reporting and multimedia internships and training for college professors.
