PRINCETON, N.J. — Media organizations are invited to hire Dow Jones News Fund interns in data journalism, digital media, business reporting and multiplatform editing for summer 2020.

DJNF interns receive specialized training in residential programs at leading journalism schools before reporting to work for 10 to 12 weeks. The News Fund has helped prepare thousands of students for distinguished professional careers over six decades.

For the fifth consecutive year, Investigative Reporters and Editors will train data journalism interns for a week. Students will learn to unearth and analyze data to tell important stories.

Digital media interns will produce a compelling multimedia project during their training at Arizona State University. This summer’s program covered development in downtown Phoenix for When the Dust Settles.

“A new media ecosystem demands a new wave of critical thinkers, technologically astute and principled journalists,” said Linda Shockley, DJNF managing director. “We reach out to attract talented, diverse intern candidates who are eager for the experience and excited to meet today’s challenges.”

Our 2019 partners included varied media outlets from print, television, radio, digital-only and nonprofit journalism organizations including the Associated Press, BusinessDen, BuzzFeed, Chalkbeat, Fortune Magazine, Hawaii News Now, Industry Dive, Kansas City Public Television, National Public Radio, The New York Times, Stars and Stripes, SourceMedia and The Wall Street Journal. American City Business Journals sponsored a fifth business reporting residency program for 10 interns to work at its publications.

Media organizations pay the News Fund $1,200 to underwrite training and agree to pay interns at least $450 per week. They can request interns online by December 1.
